Care Guide

Care Guide

Hand-forged silver is meant to be worn — and worn for a
lifetime. With a little care, your piece will only become
more beautiful with time.

────────────────────

THE FIRST RULE

Put it on last. Take it off first.

Put your silver on after perfume, lotion, hairspray, and
makeup. Take it off before showering, swimming, sleeping,
or exercising.

The metals in silver react with chemicals, salt, chlorine,
and friction — keeping your piece away from these is the
single best thing you can do for it.

────────────────────

CLEANING

When your silver dulls or darkens, simply polish it with
the soft cloth we include with every order.

A few gentle wipes will bring back the shine.

What to use:
▪ The polishing cloth in your order
▪ Or a clean, soft cotton cloth

What to avoid:
✗ Silver dips and chemical jewellery cleaners
✗ Toothpaste, baking soda, or DIY mixtures
✗ Ultrasonic cleaners
✗ Hard brushes or abrasive sponges

These can scratch the surface or strip the patina.

────────────────────

ABOUT PATINA

All silver darkens slightly with time. This is natural and,
in many cultures, considered the most beautiful state of silver.

The Miao silversmiths who craft your piece sometimes leave
a deliberate patina in the recesses of filigree work — it
makes the silver thread stand out more clearly.

If you prefer a brighter look, regular polishing maintains
the original finish.

If you love the deepening character, simply let it age.

Either way is correct.

────────────────────

STORAGE

Keep your piece in the linen pouch that came with your order.
This protects it from:

▪ Humidity (which accelerates tarnishing)
▪ Air exposure
▪ Friction with other jewellery

Store the pouch in a cool, dry place — a drawer or jewellery
box works well.

Avoid:
✗ Plastic bags (they trap moisture)
✗ Bathrooms (humidity)
✗ Direct sunlight (over long periods)

WEARING DELICATE PIECES

Our filigree pieces are made of fine silver thread, thinner
than a human hair. They are stronger than they look — but
they are not indestructible.

For delicate pieces:

▪ Put them on carefully, avoiding pulling or stretching
▪ Avoid catching them on clothing, scarves, or hair
▪ Remove them before activities that may snag

REPAIR

If your piece is damaged, please don't try to fix it yourself.

Email us a photo at support@atelierazuree.com. We'll either
repair it for you (free within the first 90 days of normal
wear) or quote a small repair fee.

Hand-forged pieces can almost always be restored.

A FINAL NOTE

Silver remembers. The marks of wear, the soft darkening,
the slight shaping that comes from being on a body — these
aren't damage. They're history.

A piece of silver, well cared for, can outlive its first
wearer.

We hope yours does.
